Confined to a Western Front dug-out during the First World War, four British officers play out a series of ghost stories to while away the time between attacks. What begins as a Christmas Eve parlour game becomes a revelation of terrifying memories, as the soldiers challenge each other's responses to the horrors and duties of the war.
